We are pleased to present Art St. Louis 40, The Exhibition, our 40th annual all media, all subjects/themes, all styles, all techniques exhibition highlighting the work of our region's finest visual artists.

For this year's show, 700 artworks in all media were submitted by 192 St. Louis regional artists for consideration by Juror Sherry Leedy from which she selected artworks by 69 artists for our exhibition.

This year's multi-media exhibit includes original artworks in ceramics, collage, digital media, drawing, handmade paper, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, and wood. We invite you to view our Facebook album for this exhibit which includes images of all 81 artworks that are featured in our 40th annual Exhibition.

Awards for this exhibition will be selected by Guest Awards Judge Jacquelyn Lewis-Harris. Awards will be announced at the opening reception November 2 around 6:15 p.m.

Art St. Louis 40, The Exhibition is presented at Art Saint Louis November 2-December 19, 2024. A free public reception is held for this exhibit on Saturday, November 2 from 5-7 p.m. with announcements, a brief Awards Judge Gallery Talk, and Awards presentation at 6:15 p.m. Complimentary beverages will be served.


Art Saint Louis is free & open to the public six days a week. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-3 p.m. through December 14. 

 

HOLIDAY CLOSURE

Closed November 28-30 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Dates and hours subject to change. The Gallery is closed Sundays, most holidays, and between shows.

SPECIAL EVENT
Please join us November 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. for a special fundraising event: Art Saint Louis 40: Reactivation held in the beautiful new ASL Gallery in Midtown St. Louis. Our cocktail-attire benefit is designed to raise funds for the complete rebranding, website rebuild/completion by Carlos Zamora and his firm CARTEL Strategies.

We invite you to join us on the 16th by purchasing tickets and spreading the word for the event which will include drinks, appetizers, and some inspiring activations that you can only experience at the event.


OUR JUROR

Sherry Leedy established Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art in 1985. As the first and longest running contemporary art gallery in the Crossroads Arts District, Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art was instrumental in the creation and revitalization of the Crossroads Arts District in Kansas City.
Since the gallery opened, Leedy has curated hundreds of solo and group exhibitions that have set a standard of excellence. The gallery is an important resource for private collectors, public institutions, and corporations. The gallery has placed over 150 works of art in museum collections and gallery artists are represented in over 100 museums worldwide.
Sherry Leedy holds a M.F.A. degree from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas, and a B.F.A. from the Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City, Missouri. She continues her commitment to her own art at her studio in Kansas City. Leedy's work is in the permanent collections of the Los Angeles County Museum, Los Angeles, CA; The Nerman Museum for Contemporary Art, Overland Park, KS; The Daum Museum of Contemporary Art, Sedalia, MO; Sprint Corporation, Leawood, KS; First National Bank, Columbia, MO; and AT&T, Kansas City, MO among others.


GUEST AWARDS JUDGE
Serving as our Guest Awards Judge for Art St. Louis 40, The Exhibition is Jacquelyn Lewis-Harris. Jackie holds a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology and fine arts from Washington University in St. Louis. Jackie served as a volunteer for the Peace Corps in Liberia and Papua New Guinea and as an advisor for United Nations Development Programme working with village-based handcrafts centers, advising artists and collectors, and managing the Handcrafts Development wholesale business for the government of Papua New Guinea.


A fine arts curator of contemporary African American, West African and Melanesian arts, Jackie is a consultant and appraiser specializing in Oceanic and African art. She has served as Director of Connecting Human Origin and Cultural Diversity, University of Missouri-St. Louis for over 25 years and formerly was Assistant Curator of Saint Louis Art Museum's department of The Art of Africa, Oceania and The Americas, where she reinstalled the Oceanic galleries, co-curated the re-installation of the African and Pre-Columbian galleries, and developed and curated exhibits on Faith Ringgold, Jacob Lawrence, Denise Ward-Brown, Art of the Papuan Gulf, and Magdalene Odundun
.

Art Saint Louis is located at 2801 Locust in the Midtown Alley/Locust Business District of St. Louis, MO. There are parking meters that run 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Fines are steep ($20), so don't let your meter expire. Download the Parkmobile app to conveniently pay for and monitor parking meter via your mobile phone. We have limited free parking in the small parking lot adjacent to the building on the West side—please park in a Reserved spot. The Gallery is also easily accessible by public transportation with MetroLink and MetroBus with MetroBus stops nearby.
